To the BCS Community from the BCS Board

 

We have 3 nominees running for the 2 open board positions. These are both 3-year terms. Nominees are running for appointment to the board as a general board member – not for a particular office. Voting will be at our February 3, 2020 board meeting. You must be present at the meeting in order to vote. Voting is to recommend for the BCS board to appoint. Below is information on the candidates (in alphabetical order).

 

Jon Kampen

 

Background – I am a hardworking father of two. I care deeply about my children’s education. I have experience working in children’s ministry at my church.

 

Why I want to run for the BCS Board – I want to see sound morals and principles instilled in our children. I want to advocate for the best interest of the Bethany students and their families.

William Posegate

 

Background – COO-Garten Services, been in Silverton 13 years, both children attend Bethany, love the school.

 

Why I want to run for the BCS Board – I want to ensure Bethany continues to be a great school for all to attend. I am excited to be a voice in transformational decisions that impact the students.

Sarah White

 

Background – I am the parent of four current and former Bethany Bobcats. My husband and I have volunteered in the school for the past eight years and are eager to continue to support our Bethany community. In my professional life, I am the Founder and Program Director for Sheltering Silverton where I work with families experiencing homelessness in the Silverton Area through shelter and services. I have been an advocate for people in poverty, survivors of human trafficking and families in crisis. I also serve on the Silver Falls School District Equity Committee where I can continue to advocate for students experiencing barriers to opportunity. Iserve on our City’s Homelessness and Affordable Housing Task Forces and have served on the board of several local and international non-profits.

 

Why I want to run for the BCS Board – I have had the pleasure of serving on this board for nearly three years. I am excited to continue the work we have been doing to develop and carry out our renewed BCS vision, develop a comprehensive facilities plan, access historic new levels of funding through the Student Success Act, and to continue to work with our amazing school staff, students, and families.
