Updated Mask Guidelines in Schools including Bethany Charter

Good afternoon, Silver Falls Families.

OHA and ODE have released new guidance on the wearing of masks both in and outdoors. We’re writing today to share the impact this guidance has on Silver Falls School District schools.

Effective Wednesday, May 26th, masks or other face coverings are no longer required to be worn while outdoors on school grounds. This applies to students, staff, volunteers, and visitors, and will impact outdoor PE classes, outdoor music, recess, arrival and dismissal, and outdoor athletic activities (for both spectators and participants). Until additional updates are provided, physical distancing and capacity restrictions are still in effect.

While the new guidance also allows for the removal of masks by certain individuals while inside school buildings, this applies only when the school or district has verified that the individual has been vaccinated. The district currently has no plans to implement a vaccine verification system. As a result, masks are still a requirement while within Silver Falls School District buildings until further notice.

Thank you.
