School News

The mushrooms pictured above were grown from the kits each classroom received for our Fun with Fungi Ag Day! It has been so much fun watching our Bobcats learn about fungi and see their own mushrooms grow!

We had another wonderful week at Bethany, filled with learning, field trips, and our first assembly of the year with our Student Leadership Team. Students in grades 7 and 8 had the opportunity to apply for leadership positions by submitting applications and teacher references. After reviewing the applications, three outstanding 8th-grade students were selected to lead us this year: Karter Bickel, Leah Sessoyeff, and Amelia Scharnhorst! Congratulations to our new student leaders! We are excited to see them grow into their roles and help lead our Bobcat community this year. You can see them along with Harvey in action in the photo.

A couple of quick reminders to help keep everyone safe and our school running smoothly:

  • Afternoon Pickup: To help keep our Bobcats safe, the gates will not be opened until 2:20 p.m. Please plan accordingly and remember to give our buses priority as they exit. We appreciate your patience and cooperation!

  • Lost and Found: Our Lost and Found is still overflowing! Please encourage your child to take a few minutes to look through the items.

  • Hot Lunch: No hot lunch on November 6, Pizza on November 13.

Have a wonderful weekend, stay safe, and as always, Go Bobcats!

PTA News

What an incredible Carnival! We are excited to share the results and celebrate the amazing amount of money raised to support all things Bethany. A HUGE thank-you to everyone who volunteered, donated, attended, and helped make this event such a success. It truly takes a community, and we are so grateful for ours!

We also had a little extra fun at our recent assembly when the winner of our Pie a Kid Contest got to enjoy their prize! A special thank-you to Reese Klopfenstein for being such a good sport and taking one for the team! Congratulations, Reese… or should we say, condolences? 😂

Our next Booster Club meeting will be Tuesday, November 17, at 2:45 p.m. in the library. We would love to see you there!
Thank you again for supporting our Bobcats and making Bethany such a wonderful community!

Fair Share Hours

A friendly reminder that charter schools do not receive the same level of funding as traditional public schools, typically receiving around 80% of the funding. Because of this, we rely heavily on the support of our parent volunteers and the fulfillment of Fair Share hours.

Your time and involvement make a real difference! Not only do volunteer hours help support our school and students, but they also provide a wonderful opportunity to connect with your child and model the importance of community involvement and giving back.

We have several opportunities coming up, including our greenhouse revitalization project, Thanksgiving Feast, Christmas Bake Sale, and general school maintenance. There are many ways to get involved, and every hour makes a difference.

Please reach out to the office if you would like to volunteer, need ideas for ways to fulfill your Fair Share hours, or need help recording the hours you have already completed.

Thank you for being such an important part of our Bethany community. We truly couldn't do it without you!

Clubs

4-H

Our next Bethany 4-H Club meeting will be Friday, November 13th! We have received our project folders and achievement forms from the OSU Extension Office, and we're excited to get everyone started on their projects!

We will also have a representative from the Extension Office joining us that day to help families complete the enrollment process and answer any questions.

Here's what to expect:
  • A short all-club meeting led by our student officers
  • Snack time! [We need folks to bring snacks to this meeting. Please let Mrs. Knoll know if you are able and willing.]
  • Breaking into small project groups to get started and learn more about each project

We are still in need of volunteer project leaders in the following areas: Wood working, Photography, and Poultry. Project leaders need to have a background check through 4-H and complete a short training.

Lego Robotics

The Lego Robotics Team has been hard at work on their challenge. If you have a chance take a moment to check out their robots. (photo on the left.)

Chess Club

We had a great turnout and have officially completed our first chess rankings! A big congratulations to our very first Bethany School Chessmaster, Hudson Hoke! Way to go, Hudson!
We are also excited to welcome Mr. de los Reyes, who has graciously agreed to join us as our Assistant Coach. We are so grateful for his willingness to help our Bobcats grow their chess skills!
A couple of reminders:
  • No practice this Thursday, November 5.
  • Our next practice will be Thursday, November 12.
  • We could use a volunteer to bring snacks for our next practice. Please let us know if you can help!
Keep practicing, Bobcats. We look forward to seeing you at our next meeting!

OBOB

The OBOB books may now be checked out in the office. Please see Mrs. Kitty for directions.
